Early and non-invasive detection of cardiac arrhythmias will soon be available in hospitals across the European Union, all thanks to the vMap system created by the American company Vektor Medical. vMap is a system that uses artificial intelligence to transform a standard 12-lead ECG into a three-dimensional heart map in less than a minute. vMap has just obtained its CE certification.
This means there is no need to conduct a full Holter monitoring, during which a patient must wear a heart-monitoring device for 24 hours or more. The entire process using the vMap system is designed to take less than a minute and precisely pinpoint the source of the arrhythmia. This provides doctors with an exceptionally accurate tool for planning and performing ablation procedures, one of the most effective methods for treating heart rhythm disorders.
The CE mark confirms the high quality and safety of the vMap technology and means that patients in Europe, not just in the USA, will soon be able to benefit from this innovative method (exact MDR class and certificate number is not listed in Vektor’s materials at time of writing).
As Dr. Lucas Boersma, an electrophysiologist at St. Antonius Hospital in the Netherlands, emphasizes: “vMap is becoming a simple, non-invasive way to obtain crucial information before and during procedures, supporting more efficient workflow and informed decision-making. It’s exciting to see this technology now available in Europe.”
Rob Krummen, CEO of Vektor Medical, adds, “Achieving the CE mark under the EU’s Medical Device Regulation, one of the most stringent regulatory frameworks in the world, underscores the strength of our technology and quality systems.”
